Introduction
M&P Ingenieurgesellschaft West - a member of the SIERA Alliance - is supporting Frasers International Amsterdam in the revitalisation of the former Vallourec site in Düsseldorf. The project combines sustainable land use with efficient space management and actively contributes to the transformation of industrially utilised sites into modern logistics locations.
Project overview
| Project data | details |
| Client | Frasers International Amsterdam |
| Period | 2022 - 2025 |
| Contract value of the engineering services | Approx. 280,000 € |
| Fields of activity | Contaminated site investigation, soil management, demolition, external supervision of earthworks |
Occasion
Frasers International planned the renovation of the former Vallourec tube works site. On an area of 65.000 m² The new construction of a modern logistics centre and 30.000 m² Ancillary facilities are planned.
The site was heavily contaminated by decades of commercial use. PAH, MKW, metal compounds and Mineral oil contamination polluted. As part of the project development, the contamination situation was assessed and a comprehensive concept of measures was drawn up.
The development of the around 160.000 m² large industrial and commercial area required extensive earthmoving of about 85,000 m³ of soil. In addition 105.000 m³ Material and 23,600 tonnes of building rubble transported and reused for the production of base courses.

Order and scope of services
- Contaminated site and building substance analyses
- Procurement and land management
- Expert supervision of the earthworks
- Acceptance and final documentation
These measures served to completely clear the construction site and prepare the areas for the planned new development.
Realisation and implementation
Based on the results of the technical investigations, a Concept of measures which formed the basis for the contract documents for the demolition and earthworks.
Thanks to targeted tendering and consistent quality monitoring, the site clearance could be realised efficiently and sustainably.
In the areas that were not renovated, the Danger to groundwater were excluded by accompanying monitoring. All materials were tested according to load classes separated, documented and disposed of properly.
This structured approach enabled the site to be developed safely and in a way that conserved resources.
Focus on sustainability
The project is exemplary for the sustainable engineering practice of the M&P Ingenieurgesellschaft West - Member of the SIERA Alliance.
The reuse of building materials, targeted soil monitoring and the minimisation of disposal volumes will significantly reduce the ecological footprint of the project.

Conclusion
With a clear focus on environmental compatibility, safety and efficiency, this project shows how sustainable urban development and engineering can go hand in hand.
M&P Ingenieurgesellschaft West - a member of the SIERA Alliance - is thus continuing its claim to „Engineering for a Better Tomorrow“ successfully put into practice.
