We are delighted to have received the silver award at the ZfK Sustainability AWARD in the water/wastewater category to Stadtwerke Rinteln - for a refurbishment project that we have supported with great conviction and developed together with our partner Sensatec GmbH.
Together, we have realised a biological in situ process for groundwater remediation that is being used for the first time in Germany on this scale - a real milestone in the field of sustainable remediation of contaminated sites. The special feature: Naturally occurring microorganisms take over the actual remediation - without any soil excavation, excavators or construction noise. This conserves resources, avoids CO₂ emissions and protects sensitive areas - a major benefit for the environment, people and the region.
- The challenge: contaminated sites from the industrial past on the premises of Stadtwerke Rinteln.
- The solution: an innovative, ecological process that leaves the soil untouched and is still highly effective - sustainable, efficient and forward-looking.
By dispensing with costly earthworks and heavy goods transport, on-site operation remains possible without restriction. For us, this is an outstanding example of how technology, environmental awareness and municipal responsibility can work together successfully.
A big thank you to Stadtwerke Rinteln for their confidence in new approaches and to all those involved in the project for their excellent cooperation. This award is a strong signal for more sustainable innovation in contaminated site management!
