Three drilling mud pits are located in the area of responsibility of the lower soil protection authority of the district of Friesland. With the purpose of making closer investigations of such drilling mud pits affordable for the districts in Lower Saxony and to hold the industry to its obligation, a settlement agreement was concluded between the State of Lower Saxony and the WEG. On this basis, the agreement for the promotion of investigations of suspected contaminated sites at locations of former oil and drilling mud pits was adopted. After phase I (historical investigation) carried out by M&P, phase II (OU with site investigations) is now also being carried out by M&P.

- Explosive ordnance clearance measurement of the drill points

- 22 Small pile driving holes

- Establishment of 9 groundwater monitoring wells and groundwater sampling

- Topsoil sampling and testing
