Products for photochemistry, pharmacy, electroplating and dyeing were produced there. The resources used included radioactive materials (uranium and thorium ores) as well as various chemicals and elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the course of numerous investigations by various specialist offices, a number of sites were located where radiologically contaminated production waste had been deposited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contaminated areas were remediated depending on the risk to human health and\/or groundwater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mullundpartner.de\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_1541-rotated.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/mullundpartner.de\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_1541-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20693\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mullundpartner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_1541-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mullundpartner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_1541-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/mullundpartner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_1541-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/mullundpartner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_1541-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/mullundpartner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_1541-9x12.jpg 9w, https:\/\/mullundpartner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_1541-600x800.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mullundpartner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_1541-150x200.jpg 150w, https:\/\/mullundpartner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_1541-rotated.jpg 675w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to hundreds of years of urban development in the List district, not all contaminated soil layers can be \"reached\" equally by a remediation measure. Some areas have been built over by multi-storey residential buildings or are firmly sealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To identify soil contamination by the radioactive component from decay series of compounds containing thorium and uranium, measurements of the local dose conduction are carried out at the ground surface.
